In Apple Business Manager you can purchase Apps and Books. The Apple Volume Purchase Program is to be discontinued.


If you have used the  Apple Volume Purchase Program, this is a separate account from Apple Business Apps and Books.

You can either add both to the CapaInstaller Console or you can link the old VVP account to the Apple Business Apps and Books account.


Locations

In Apps and Books, Apple uses locations. A location is typically a physical location like a country or a site. The company name is automatically created as a site and can be used for purchasing apps and books.

It is not necessary to create any other locations. However if you have more locations, there will a server token for each location

To view or add locations browse to Apple Business Manager and navigate to Locations.

If you want to create a new location, use this guide from Apple.

How to purchase Apps and Books

You can only purchase licenses. It is not possible to delete licenses!

  1. Login to Apple Business Manager and navigate to Apps and Books
  2. Type the name in the search field
  3. Select the location for the app and number of licenses

  4. Click Get and wait for the app to appear in the list
  5. Synchronize with Apple in the CapaInstaller console

If you have multiple locations have you download, add all the locations!

  1. Login to Apple Business Manager
  2. Navigate to Apps and Books
  3. Click Settings and select Apps and books
  4. Download the server token for the correct location



  5. Open the token file with notepad and copy the content
  6. In CapaInstaller Console, navigate to System Administration
  7. Right-click on Apple Volume Purchase Programs and select add
  8. On the wizard paste the copied content into the Token: field and click Retrieve VPP Account
  9. The content will now be synchronized and the licenses will appear in the console

How to invite old VVP account to Apple Business

  1. Login to Apple Business Manager
  2. Navigate Settings and select Enrollment Information
  3. Scroll down to Legacy VPP account
  4. Click on Invite VPP Program Facilitator
  5. Type the Apple ID and click Invite
  6. Accept the invitation

Go in to your CI Console

In system administration, go to Software accounts -> Apple VPP → VPP → Licences

In Licences, rightclick the VPP app you want to create → click "Create Device Application"

Choose your Management point, Primary Assignment Method and Secondary and click "Ok":

5Now the VPP app you have created shold be in "Configuration Management" → Applications and Packages → Device Application.
6Right click your new VPP App, click "add to buffer" → Past the app to the device
7Make sure that it work

Go in under "System Administration"

In your top left corner, you have a tab "Global Task" click on it

4Right click on "Apple Volume Purchase Program Licenses" and click "Schedule..."

Click on "Recurrence" on click on "Always" and click "Ok"

6Now right click "Synchronize Apple Volume Purchase Program" and click "Schedule..."

Click on "Recurrence" on click on "Always" and click "Ok"

8Now it should work
