Introduction

This page will guide you through the process of making Bulk enrollment of Windows Mobile devices using a USB cable.

In order to do this you will have to install the Windows ADK: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/yongrhee/2015/08/11/download-windows-10-assessment-and-deployment-kit-adk/

Creation of a configuration profile

StepActionTechnical Description
1.

After installation of the Windows ADK, you can open "Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer"

Please be aware that you install an ADK version which matches the Windows version you want to enroll.

2.

Select button named "New provisioning package"


3.

Give the project a name and find a location for storing the project


4.

Select "Common to all Windows editions"


5.

Ignore this and press "Finish"


6.

In left tree find "Runtime settings" / "Workplace" / "Enrollments".

Enter a name in UPN (e.g. "CapaInstaller") and press "Add" button.

The UPN doesn't have to be a real existing UPN.

Expand the Created UPN and set the "AuthPolicy" to "OnPremise"


8.

Set the "DiscoveryServiceFullUrl" to point at your MDM service url. e.g. "https://[Your Server]/EnrollmentServer/Discovery.svc".

Set the "EnrollmentServiceFullUrl" to point at your MDM service url. e.g. "https://[Your Server]/EnrollmentServer/enroll.svc".

If you want the device to enroll using a specific enrollment configuration and not the default you can select the enrollment configuration to use by adding a query string to the enroll url "?enrollid=[enrollid]" where you provide the enrollid for the enrollment to use. See example with enrollment configuration named "test" below.

Set the "PolicyServiceFullUrl" to point at your MDM service url. e.g. "https://[Your Server]/EnrollmentServer/policy.svc".

Set the "Secret" to anything, it is not used but it must be set in order for the profile to work.

In the top ribbon, click the "Export" dropdown and select "Provisioning package".

Set "Owner" to "OEM" and click "Next"

Uncheck "Encrypt package" and click "Next" button

Click "Next"

Click "Build"

Now you have the configuration package in the "Output location" folder

The Configuration package has the project name and extension ppkg.






Enrolling via USB

StepActionTechnical Description
1.

Power up Windows mobile device and plugin USB cable.


2.

Copy the ppkg file into the device using the file explore on the PC.


3.

Now the device will ask if you will like to install this configuration on your device, choose "Yes, add it"


4.

Now the device will enroll into CapaInstaller which can be seen under, "Settings" / "Accounts" / "Access work or school"


5.You can now delete the profile from the device both in the "File explore" on the PC and in "Settings" / "Accounts" / "Access work or school" / "Add or remove a provisioning package"


Enrolling via SD card

StepActionTechnical Description
1.

Power up Windows mobile device.


2.

Copy the ppkg file into the device by either downloading it via the browser or any other mean. Ensure that the configuration file is stored on the SD card.

If you download the file from the browser you can manually copy or remove the file using the File explorer on the device.


3.

Go to "Settings" / "Accounts" / "Access work or school" / "Add or remove a provisioning package".

Click the "Add a package" button



4.

Select the configuration profile.


5.

Now the device will ask if you will like to install this configuration on your device, choose "Yes, add it"


6.

Now the device will enroll into CapaInstaller which can be seen under, "Settings" / "Accounts" / "Access work or school"


7.You can now delete the profile from the device both in the "File explore" on the PC and in "Settings" / "Accounts" / "Access work or school" / "Add or remove a provisioning package"
